Fillings Sydney
Help protect your tooth from decay without the need for conspicuous amalgam fillings!
Old, silver fillings have been used in dentistry for over 100 years, and while they provide a satisfactory restoration to the tooth, at Gentle and Caring Dentistry in Sydney Dr Irani often uses more discreet composite resin fillings. Also known as ‘tooth coloured fillings’ or ‘white fillings’, our composite fillings are a great alternative to the traditional obvious metal fillings.
Do you have silver fillings? We can safely and gently remove them if needed..
At Gentle and Caring Dentistry we won’t remove your amalgam fillings for the sake of it, and only recommend removal when needed. To safely remove your silver fillings we will use plenty of water, high volume evacuation and place a rubber dam at the back of the throat to protect your soft tissues and ensure you do not swallow any of the removed filling.
We believe in upholding strict sterilisation and quality control protocols, and implement these standards throughout all our treatments.
Do you want a less obvious solution to silver fillings?
We offer white fillings that are made from a composite resin material. This substance can be colour-matched to the shade of your teeth, so it becomes virtually invisible! Other great benefits of our white fillings include:
- Enhance the colour and shape of a tooth
- Are strong and durable
- Actively prevent further decay from occurring
What is the process that is involved with white fillings?
We will first assess your dental condition to determine the complexity of your case and how severe your dental decay is. Sometimes white fillings are not always the best option and in the case of an extensive amount of decay we may have to use inlays or onlays. If white fillings are found to be a suitable option, we will then discuss this with you in depth.
We will then clean away the decay on the teeth and place the composite resin material over the cavity, after which we will carefully shape it to match the natural tooth contour and polish it. With good care your white filling should last anywhere between 7-10 years.
